Thank you for all your ideas, we can confirm that we have received lots of suggestions and these will be reviewed shortly.  Watch this space.

3 March 2021 - Please see attached document detailing what ideas/suggestions have been put forward and what the Parish Council are hoping to accomplish, with the help of the Kirby Muxloe residents.

New ideas, big or small, are needed to make living and working in Kirby Muxloe better as we ease out of the pandemic.

Ideas should aim to fall into one or more of these 4 broad categories:

  1. To sustain and improve our natural environment

  2. To protect and promote best possible health of village residents

  3. To encourage greater youth involvement in and ownership of future plans and processes of the village.

  4. To promote village unity and community spirit.

Regular announcements will be made across multiple platforms/ social media for a 5 week period inviting village residents to submit their ideas to council via the council website and Facebook, with an end date for submissions being 12th February. These ideas will be considered by council to ensure that they fulfill the requirements for submission (i.e. they fall into the categories noted above, council’s decisions being final).

Ideas that fulfill these requirements will be published on the Council website to enable village residents to vote for their favourites for a further period of 1 month, so the consultation process will finish 12th March.

The most popular ideas will be accepted by council as those to be acted upon. Residents, who express an interest, will be invited to form small working groups to help drive the idea forward to implementation.

Here are some ideas to get started with:

  1. Seek to extend the Towers Close meadow flower planting proposal into Kirby Meadows and Blood Hill.

  2. Establish a community orchard and/or allotment, and/or community woodland

  3. Establish a sensory garden / Garden of Peace.

  4. Regularly monitor air quality at key points across the village and post results on the Council website, as well as Facebook and Instagram pages.

  5. Promote “active transport” and seek ways to improve cycling and walking options around the village.

  6. Seek a partnership with Kirby Muxloe Primary School as they work towards a school Eco-award.

  7. Explore opportunities for hosting open-air community events (with local partners), e.g. litter picks, conservation projects, Big Picnic, cinema in the park, Sky at Night Events.

  8. Produce a statement of intent that the Parish Council will explore ways to reduce the carbon footprint of Kirby Muxloe and resist proposals that lead to increased carbon emissions, be it locally to the parish or beyond into neighboiring parishes.
